Casa Munoa
The origins of the Munoa family as jewellers go back to the Swiss jeweller´s shop owned by Mr. Pablo Beiner in San Sebastián during the Belle Epoque. This is when Don Claudio Munoa and Doña Purificación Roiz first met, embarking on a personal and professional relationship which would give rise to the present jeweller´s Casa Munoa, now run by Don Rafael and son, Claudio.
The Munoa establishment is a small workshop in which the utmost care is taken to produce both small and large pieces of jewellery. In order to carry out these daily tasks several people are involved. Don Rafael, with his son, Claudio, draw up designs for the pieces and select the most appropriate gems for each design, which are then handcrafted in the same establishment by the in-house jewellers, Chuchi Ortega, Félix Torres, Ane Ochoa and Claudio Munoa.
The whole process of production uses traditional methods. From the founding of a piece to its polishing, setting and engraving. To get an idea of the extent to which pieces are handcrafted, even wedding rings are engraved by hand with a burin on the inside. Methods of mass production are not used unless a client specifically requests the reproduction of a particular piece. This policy, however, is never applied to platinum pieces. Throughout the entire process, from design to delivery, the piece does not, under any circumstances, leave the premises.
